For example, hidden water infiltration can lead to a devastating amount of mold growth which can cause severe health disorders if left untreated. By using an infrared camera to detect areas of abnormal temperature, destructive testing to access hidden moisture becomes a thing of the past.

We also have the capability to inspect the structural integrity of CMU (concrete block construction) wall systems, non-destructively. We find many problems with CMU construction, most defects are a result of poor supervision at the construction site. If voids are present in the grouted cell, they can reduce the structural capacity of the systems and, in the case of reinforced masonry, can limit the effectiveness of the steel reinforcement and reduce the out-of-plane resistance to lateral design load. These voids can also collect water leading to interior damage and corrosion of the reinforcement.
